I've seen that fractal applet before. It's very cool.

The math behind bicomplex fractals is a little beyond me. I've had good luck creating 3D fractals using regular quadratic Mandelbrot and Julia sets, and displaying them as height maps using distance estimate data for the height values. I've created perspective projections, red/cyan color anaglyphs, and cross-eyed stereograms. You can see my fractal gallery here:

I'm currently working on enhancing my fractal rendering app, FractalWorks, to display 3D Mandelbrot and Julia set fractals as anaglyphs (or other types of stereo images)

I've got 3D fractal anaglyphs being displayed on the screen, and you can zoom, pan, and rotate the images while viewing them in Stereo. Very cool.

If you have a Mac you can check out the program here: http://web.mac.com/dchampney/Site/FractalWorks.html
That version doesn't yet support anaglyphs, but I should update it within a week or two of this posting.

I created a small gallery of fractal anaglyphs here: http://web.mac.com/dchampney/Site/FractalWorks.html
(I did these manually with an earlier version of the program, by generating left eye and right eye views and then coloring and combining them in Photoshop)

Inspiring!

Grabbed your .mov on the wacom tablet, will make my own cyan/red glasses to check it out next week.

A friend of mine rendered some mandelbrot sets in quirkbasic and we have been trying to figure out how to animate the seed formula for an animated, mutating set in 3d. tricky.

I'll keep you posted.

You see, your idea is fantastic. The people at Office of Tomorrow had thought of a similar technology to make an interactive table named Conoto. It's basically a giant tablet with screen image projected onto it.

Take a look at the video of the guy using Photoshop, it's wonderful

Good idea Riley. If the surface is smooth enough it would be fine, but if is at all textured or rough then it will wear away the tip of the pen. It wears out fast enough on the surface wacom provides!
